Meet Raven, the navigator. Learn what 'instructions' are and write your first one.
By the end of this week: type and run a simple one-line instruction
For grown-ups: Free preview week.
Meet Raven
Raven is the bird who flies with the Code Crew. Raven is very, very smart. But Raven only does what you write down.
If you don’t write it down, Raven won’t do it. Even if it’s a good idea.
Your first instruction
Type this in the box:
fly up
Then press Run.
Raven flies up. One step.
[INTERACTIVE EDITOR: Week 1, Code Block 1]
Sibling task fills this in: this is the kid-friendly text editor that reads/writes the line of code. Authoring guide in playbook.
What if you mess up?
If Raven goes the wrong way, that’s a bug. Bugs are not bad; bugs are how you find what to fix.
In the next week we’ll learn how to spell out a longer instruction.
When you finish
Tap Mark week complete below. Raven will tip its hat at you.
